Move & Think: an active brain break game for kids

🏃 Body & brain Some evidence

Run, freeze, dance — and think!

▶ Play Move & Think

Your child stands up, puts the device on a table and plays three short mini-games that mix moving with thinking.

In Freeze & Go they run on the spot, freeze and tap the ⭐ but not the 🐍 (self-control). In Opposite Moves they do a move or its opposite as the rule switches (flexible thinking). In Copy the Dance they watch a sequence of moves, dance it and tap it back (working memory).

Move & Think is the active brain break in every Daily Mix. Clear some space and keep a grown-up nearby.

How to play

  1. Put the device on a table or the floor and stand a big step away.
  2. Move when the screen says: run, freeze, jump and dance!
  3. Come back and tap only when the rules say so.
  4. Too tricky? Tap ⏭️ to skip a game.

Why it helps

Based on research showing that cognitively engaging movement helps executive functions more than plain exercise (Schmidt et al. 2015). The effects are modest.

💡 Join in! Take turns inventing an opposite rule — “when I jump, you squat” — and see who keeps it going longest.
