Firefly Catch: a focus and impulse-control game

Focus & stop

Catch fireflies, let the bees go!

▶ Play Firefly Catch

Creatures pop up in a night sky. Your child taps the glowing star and holds back when anything else appears.

This trains sustained attention and response inhibition — staying alert and stopping a tap at the last moment.

Levels bring faster creatures, several at once, look-alike lures such as a ladybug that resembles the bee, and later a rule flip halfway through.

How to play

  1. Tap every firefly 🌟 fast!
  2. Don't tap the bees 🐝.
  3. Let other bugs fly away too.
  4. Watch out: the rule may switch!

Why it helps

Based on the go/no-go task, a classic measure of attention and response inhibition. Grown-ups can see hits and how often a tap was held back correctly.

💡 Play a real-life “Simon says” or a clapping game where one word means “clap” and another means “freeze”. Take turns being the leader.
